Pamplico Rescue Squad is located on the lower east side of Florence County, near the area of the red balloon on the map. The Rescue Squad covers all of Florence County School District 2 with full ALS ambulances. The ambulances back up and run as secondary units to a Florence County EMS unit stationed here. When that unit is moved out of the area due to heavy call volumes elsewhere, we revert to being the primary ambulance provider. Hwy 378 runs through the southern end of our service area. It is a major source of auto accidents during the summer as it is a heavily traveled route to Myrtle Beach. Effective in the summer of 2021, the Hwy 51 from Florence to Hwy 378 has been converted to 4 lanes and a median. Hwy 378 was converted to the same a few years back. So this gives us two intersecting 4 lanes and median that meet and carry a lot of traffic towards Myrtle Beach. Our run station is close to being in the middle of our response area.
